Search for a Helsinki Airport transfer and you will meet two very different things wearing the same suit — global booking platforms, and the local companies that actually do the driving. Both are legitimate. They work differently, and the difference matters more in a small market like Helsinki than almost anywhere else. Here is the honest map.
Blacklane is a well-known global chauffeur platform: one account, one app, rides in dozens of countries. It does not run a fleet in Finland — like all marketplaces, it takes your booking and passes it to whichever local partner accepts the job. We are the other side of that arrangement: a Helsinki operator with its own Mercedes fleet and drivers, taking bookings directly. How the two models work
A marketplace (Blacklane and similar). You book through a global platform. The platform sets the price, takes the payment, and dispatches the job to a local partner company — if one is available. The company that drives you is chosen for you, and the platform sits between you and it: your money, your special requests and your complaints all pass through the middle layer. In big hub cities with dozens of partners this works smoothly. In smaller markets, availability depends on whether any partner picks up the job that day.
A local operator (what we do). You book directly with the company whose driver will meet you. The price you see is the operator's own fixed price — from €110 for a Business-class Mercedes from the airport, agreed before you fly, the same day and night. There is no allocation step: the cars are ours, the drivers are ours, and the person answering your WhatsApp message is the dispatcher who assigns your car.
What the middle layer means in practice
- Who answers when plans change. Flight diverted, one more suitcase, a different drop-off address? With a marketplace you write to global support, which relays it to the partner. With us you send one WhatsApp message and get an answer from the people holding the wheel — usually in minutes, at any hour.
- Where the money goes. A marketplace fare is split between the platform and the operator who actually drives. When you book direct, the full fare goes to the company responsible for your ride — which is also why a local operator can put a Mercedes at arrivals for less than a platform charges for the same class of car. Compare the quotes for your own date; the difference is usually not subtle.
- Who is accountable. With us the company you paid, the company that drives you and the company answering for the ride are the same company — a licensed Finnish operator serving Helsinki Airport since 2008. There is nobody to point at anybody else.
