Helsinki Airport to City Centre — Private Transfer
Private door-to-door transfer · fixed price · ~30 min · meet & greet
Book your transfer
Travel directly from Helsinki Airport (HEL) to the heart of Helsinki in a private, pre-booked car with an English-speaking driver. Your driver tracks your flight, meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, and takes you straight to your hotel or address in the city centre — no taxi queue, no meter running in traffic, and a price that is fixed the moment you book. We have been driving international travellers into Helsinki since 2008.
Fares by vehicle class
The Helsinki Airport ↔ city centre route is a fixed-price city transfer. You pay the same fixed fare whatever the traffic, and the exact price for your hotel or address is shown the moment you book.

Why pre-book a private transfer
A fixed price, not a running meter. An ordinary metered taxi into Helsinki is unpredictable — you never know which car will turn up or what the fare will be in traffic. With us you see the full price before you book and pay exactly that, straight to your door.
Door-to-door with your luggage. The train and bus from the airport are cheap, but they leave you at the central station to find your own way to your hotel with your bags. A private transfer takes you to the exact address — useful late at night, in winter, or with children and luggage.
A driver who waits for you. We track your flight in real time. If you land late, your driver is still there, with a name sign in arrivals and up to 60 minutes of free waiting time from the moment you land.
The journey
Helsinki city centre is about 20 km from the airport and the drive takes roughly half an hour, mostly on the motorway before dropping into the grid of streets around the central station, Esplanadi and the Market Square. Your driver takes you to your exact hotel or address — whether that is a waterfront hotel, an apartment in Kallio or a meeting in the business district.
We are a pre-booked service (book at least 24 hours ahead). After booking you receive an email confirmation with your booking reference and meeting instructions.
About Helsinki city centre
Helsinki, the capital of Finland, wraps around a series of peninsulas and islands on the Baltic coast. The compact city centre puts almost everything within walking distance: neoclassical squares, a vibrant harbour market, design shops, sea pools and parks all sit within a short stroll of each other, and the sea is never far away. It is an easy, safe and walkable city to arrive into — and a perfect base for day trips across southern Finland.
What to see in the city centre
The postcard view of Helsinki is Senate Square, framed by the white Helsinki Cathedral at the top of its broad steps. A short walk away, the red-brick Uspenski Cathedral looks out over the harbour, and the Market Square (Kauppatori) on the waterfront is the city's open-air heart — stalls of berries, salmon and crafts, and the departure point for harbour boats. The tree-lined Esplanadi park runs from the market up into the shopping streets, past the Stockmann department store and the design boutiques of the Design District.
Culture lovers have the Ateneum and the Kiasma museum of contemporary art, the strikingly modern Oodi central library opposite Parliament, and the Amos Rex underground galleries. The Temppeliaukio Rock Church, carved into solid granite, and the Sibelius Monument in Sibelius Park in the Töölö district are among the city's most photographed sights. The Presidential Palace stands on the Market Square waterfront, near the Old Market Hall with its food stalls.
Suomenlinna and the islands
From the Market Square, a short public ferry runs to Suomenlinna, the 18th-century sea fortress spread across several islands and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — one of Helsinki's must-see attractions, with ramparts, museums, cafés and sea views. Other islands worth the trip include Korkeasaari, home to Helsinki Zoo, and Lonna and Vallisaari in summer.
Parks, nature and the famous squirrels
Helsinki is a remarkably green city. Kaivopuisto, the grand seaside park south of the centre, and the central Esplanadi and Tähtitorninvuori parks are full of locals in summer — and full of tame red squirrels, which dart through the trees of almost every Helsinki park and are a favourite with visitors. The Töölönlahti bay behind the central station gives a leafy walking loop right in the city, and the Allas Sea Pool by the harbour lets you swim and sauna with a view of the cathedral.
Food and shopping
Helsinki's food scene runs from the historic Old Market Hall (Vanha Kauppahalli) and the Hakaniemi and Hietalahti market halls to Michelin-starred restaurants and the buzzing bars and bistros of the Kallio district. The city is the home of Finnish design — Marimekko, Iittala, Artek — and the compact Design District is full of studios and boutiques. Coffee is taken seriously here; Finns are among the world's biggest coffee drinkers.
Weather and when to visit
Helsinki has four distinct seasons. Summers are mild and famously bright, with long, light evenings around midsummer; autumn is crisp; and winters are cold and snowy, with short days and a magical, often snow-covered city. Whatever the season, a warm car from the airport door to your hotel is a comfortable way to arrive — especially on a dark winter evening.
Visiting for an event?
Helsinki hosts concerts, congresses and festivals all year — from summer events in the parks and the Helsinki Festival to ice hockey, trade fairs and conferences — and these are exactly the dates when taxis are scarce and prices unpredictable. If you are flying in for an event, a wedding or a business trip, pre-book your transfer so a driver is confirmed and waiting whatever time you land.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Helsinki Airport to the city centre?
Our fixed fare starts at €65 in a Standard car and €85 in a Business Mercedes E-Class; larger Mercedes vans and First Class are also available. The price is fixed when you book — there is no meter — and the exact fare for your hotel or address is shown instantly.
How long does the transfer take?
About half an hour for the roughly 20 km drive, depending on traffic. Your driver tracks your flight, so a late arrival does not cost you the car.
Where will I meet my driver?
In the arrivals hall at Helsinki Airport. Your driver holds a sign with your name and helps with your luggage. Up to 60 minutes of free waiting time is included from the moment you land.
Can you take me to my exact hotel or address?
Yes — every transfer is door-to-door. Just enter your hotel or address when you book and the price updates automatically. We cover the whole central area at the same fixed fare.
Is the fixed price the same at night?
Yes. You see and agree the full price before booking and pay exactly that. Any night surcharge (23:00–06:00) is already included in the quote — never a surprise meter.
How do I get to Suomenlinna or the zoo from the centre?
Suomenlinna is reached by a short public ferry from the Market Square; Korkeasaari (Helsinki Zoo) sits on its own island, reached by bus or summer water bus. We can drop you near the Market Square ferry, or take you straight to your starting point.
Do you also drive from the city centre to the airport?
Yes. Book the return direction on the city centre to Helsinki Airport page, or add a return when you book — handy for an early flight.
How many passengers and suitcases can you take?
A Business sedan seats up to 3 with 3 bags; a Business Van (Mercedes Vito) takes up to 8 passengers and 8 bags. Child seats are available free on request.
Is it better than the train or bus?
The train and bus are cheaper but end at the central station, leaving you to reach your hotel with your luggage. A private transfer is door-to-door — worth it with bags, children, a late flight or a winter arrival.
How far in advance should I book?
We are a pre-booked service, so please book at least 24 hours before pickup. Earlier is better for busy event and summer dates.
Can I pay by card, and can I cancel?
You can pay securely online by card, or reserve now and pay later. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
