Book your transfer

Travel directly from Helsinki Airport (HEL) to Messukeskus — the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre in Pasila — in a private, pre-booked car with an English-speaking driver. It is Finland's largest fair and congress venue, and a private transfer takes you from the arrivals hall straight to the right entrance with your luggage and exhibition materials, at a price fixed the moment you book. Your driver tracks your flight, so a delay never means a missed session. We have been driving international travellers and business visitors across Helsinki since 2008.

Fares by vehicle class

Why pre-book a transfer to Messukeskus

Arrive on time for your fair or congress. Trade-show mornings are busy and sessions, keynotes and meetings start on schedule. A pre-booked car that tracks your flight gets you from the airport straight to the right entrance without queueing for a taxi rank or changing trains with your bags. For exhibitors setting up a stand, or speakers due on stage, that certainty is worth far more than the fare.

Room for exhibitors, teams and materials. Travelling as a team, or carrying stand materials, samples, banners and demo equipment? A Business Van (Mercedes minivan) takes up to 8 passengers and their luggage in a single vehicle, straight to the loading point or entrance — no splitting the group across several taxis.

A fixed price you see before you book. There is no meter and no surge pricing during the big fairs, when ordinary taxis are scarce and expensive. You agree the full price up front and pay exactly that, whatever the traffic between the airport and Pasila.

And because we have driven business visitors to Helsinki since 2008, we know the venue, its entrances and the rhythm of the fair calendar — so your transfer is planned around your event, not the other way round.

Getting from the airport to Messukeskus

Messukeskus sits in Pasila, just north of central Helsinki and only about 18 km from Helsinki Airport — one of the closest of all our city destinations. By car the drive normally takes around 20 to 25 minutes, mostly along the main motorway (Tuusulanväylä / Hämeenlinnanväylä) before turning in towards Pasila. Because it is so close, it is also one of the most affordable fixed-price transfers we run.

The venue has more than one entrance. The Southern Entrance at Messuaukio 1 faces Pasila station and the Tripla complex; the Northern Entrance at Ratapihantie 17 serves other halls and is often used for larger fairs and load-in. Different events use different entrances, so when you book, tell us which fair you are attending and we will drop you at the right door — a small detail that saves a long walk around a very large building with your luggage.

Public transport to Pasila is genuinely good — commuter trains from the airport reach Pasila in roughly half an hour, and trams and buses all stop nearby. But with exhibition luggage, a team, an early keynote or a tight connection, a private car straight to the entrance removes every change and every uncertainty. We are a pre-booked service (book at least 24 hours ahead); after booking you receive an email confirmation with your reference and meeting instructions, and your driver tracks your flight so a delay never means a missed session.

About Messukeskus — the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre

Messukeskus, the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, is the largest and best-known fair and congress venue in Finland. It stands in the Pasila district, a few minutes north of the city centre, and is the beating heart of the country's exhibition and event life. Each year it hosts around a hundred trade shows and public fairs, well over two thousand meetings and congresses, and welcomes more than 1.3 million visitors through its doors.

The scale of the building matches that ambition. Messukeskus has seven exhibition halls, forty meeting rooms and the 4,400-seat Amfi Hall auditorium, adding up to nearly 48,000 square metres of flexible floor space — enough to stage everything from an intimate professional seminar to a vast consumer fair with hundreds of exhibitors. Restaurants, cafés and lounges are spread throughout, so visitors can spend a full day inside without leaving.

The centre is run by the Finnish Fair Corporation, an organisation founded back in 1919 to promote Finnish trade and industry; the very first fair was held in a field beside St John's Church in Helsinki in the summer of 1920 and drew well over a hundred thousand visitors. More than a century later, that tradition of bringing people together around ideas, products and industries continues at the modern Pasila venue.

For an international visitor, Messukeskus is simply where things happen in Helsinki — whether you are flying in to exhibit, to speak, to do business on the fair floor or to enjoy a public show, this is the address. And because it sits so close to the airport, it is one of the easiest major venues in the Nordics to reach on arrival.

The fairs and events calendar

The Messukeskus calendar runs all year and changes from season to season, but several great public fairs return annually and are worth planning a trip around. The travel year opens in January with the Matka & Caravan Travel Fair — the largest travel event in Northern Europe, drawing tens of thousands of visitors and exhibitors from around seventy countries, where holiday-makers and the travel trade meet under one roof. Winter continues with the MP Motorcycle Show and, in February, the Vene Båt Boat Fair, one of the biggest boat shows in the Nordic region and a highlight for anyone who loves the water.

Spring brings a cluster of popular public events: the Spring Fair, the Local & Organic Food Fair, the Golf fair that opens the season for players, the American Car Show, and family favourites such as the Child Fair and the Pet Exhibition. These are classic days-out fairs, busy with families and enthusiasts, and exactly the kind of weekend when a stress-free ride from the airport pays off.

Autumn is the centre's busiest stretch. Habitare, Finland's leading furniture, interior and design fair, fills the halls in September; FinnBuild gathers the building and construction industries; and in October the Helsinki Book Fair — held alongside the Wine and Food festival — turns Messukeskus into a meeting place for authors, publishers and readers, one of the most beloved cultural events of the Finnish year. The wellbeing and lifestyle fair I love me also lands in October.

The venue is just as important for the professional and tech world. Major congresses, the long-running tabletop and gaming convention Ropecon in summer, the student and study fair Studia in late autumn, and large business and technology events make Messukeskus a year-round hub. Because exact dates shift each year, it is always worth checking the official Messukeskus event calendar for the show you want before you travel — and booking your airport transfer as soon as your dates are set.

Tickets, opening hours and planning your visit

Tickets to Messukeskus events are sold by each event's organiser, and prices vary widely depending on the fair, the day and whether you buy in advance — so the best place to check the current ticket price for a specific show is that event's own website, linked from the official Messukeskus calendar. Many public fairs are noticeably cheaper if you buy online ahead of time, and some trade days at the start of an event are reserved for professionals and media before the doors open to the general public.

For visitors planning to attend several shows, Messukeskus sells a season ticket that covers entry to the public fairs it organises itself across the year. There are usually discounts for pensioners, and children aged 7 to 17 have their own reduced ticket, while under-sevens often enter free or on a children's ticket — though age limits and prices are set per event, so check the specific fair.

Doors typically open around half an hour before an event starts, and the larger fairs run from morning well into the evening, so it pays to arrive rested and on time. Cloakrooms, restaurants and cafés inside make a long day comfortable. Arriving by private car straight from the airport — rather than dragging luggage through a train change at Pasila — is the simplest way to start a fair day fresh.

Pasila, Tripla and where to stay

Messukeskus could hardly be better placed. It sits right beside Pasila railway station — one of Helsinki's main rail hubs — and the Mall of Tripla, one of the largest shopping centres in the Nordics, with well over two hundred shops, dozens of restaurants and cafés, a supermarket and a cinema. That means everything a fair visitor might need is a two-minute walk from the halls.

For somewhere to stay, several hotels sit within walking distance. The Holiday Inn Helsinki – Expo stands immediately next to the centre, while the Scandic Pasila and the Original Sokos Hotel Tripla are a short stroll away above and beside the station. Staying in Pasila lets exhibitors and delegates roll out of bed and into the fair, and still be a few minutes from the city centre by train.

The district itself has been transformed in recent years from a railway yard into a modern quarter of towers, offices and public spaces, with the trains, trams (lines 2, 7 and 9) and buses that stop here making it one of the best-connected parts of the whole city. Whichever way you arrive, your driver can drop you at your hotel, at the venue entrance, or both across a multi-day visit.

Combining a fair with a few days in Helsinki

Because Pasila is only a few minutes from the centre, many visitors turn a fair or congress into a short city break. The heart of Helsinki — Senate Square and the white Cathedral, the harbour Market Square, the Esplanadi park and the Design District — is a quick train or tram ride away, and the islands, sea pools and parks that make the city special are all close at hand. A fair in the morning and the Old Market Hall or a harbour sauna in the afternoon is an easy combination.

If you have a free day around your event, the ferry to the Suomenlinna sea fortress, the Korkeasaari island zoo, or simply an evening among the restaurants of the centre and the Kallio district are all within reach. We are happy to take you from your hotel to any of these and back, or out to the airport for your flight home, all at the same fixed Helsinki city fare.

In other words, a trip to Messukeskus does not have to be only about the fair floor. Treat it as your gateway to Helsinki — and let us handle the journeys, starting with a smooth ride straight from the airport terminal to the exhibition door.

Why visitors choose a private transfer

Trade fairs draw their crowds in concentrated bursts, and those are precisely the hours when Helsinki's taxis are hardest to find and most expensive. A pre-booked, fixed-price car removes that gamble: a professional, English-speaking driver, a clean modern vehicle, a name sign in arrivals and a price agreed before you travel. For business travellers on a schedule it is the calmest way to begin a trip, and for groups and exhibitors it keeps everyone — and everything — together.

Exhibiting, speaking or attending a congress?

If you are flying into Helsinki to exhibit at, speak at or attend a fair or congress at Messukeskus, the days around the major shows are the busiest of all for transport in the city — and the hardest for finding a taxi on the spot. Pre-booking your airport transfer means a driver is confirmed and timed to your arrival, with your flight tracked in case it runs late, so you reach the venue calm and on schedule for setup, a keynote or the first meeting of the day.

For teams and exhibitors, a single Mercedes minivan carries up to 8 people plus stand materials, samples and luggage directly to the right entrance — far simpler than splitting across several cars or wrestling cases through a train change. And if your visit spans several days, we can arrange return trips between your hotel and the venue, and your ride back to the airport at the end, all at the fixed Helsinki city fare. Just tell us your event and entrance when you book.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Helsinki Airport to Messukeskus?

Our fixed fare starts at €65 in a Standard car and €85 in a Business Mercedes E-Class; larger Mercedes vans and First Class are also available. The price is fixed when you book — there is no meter — and the exact fare for your address is shown instantly.

How long does the transfer take?

About 20 to 25 minutes for the roughly 18 km drive, depending on traffic — Messukeskus is one of our closest city destinations. Your driver tracks your flight, so a late arrival does not cost you the car.

Where exactly will you drop me?

At the entrance your event uses — the Southern Entrance (Messuaukio 1) by Pasila station and Tripla, or the Northern Entrance (Ratapihantie 17). Tell us your fair when you book and we will choose the right door.

What events are held at Messukeskus?

Around a hundred fairs a year plus thousands of meetings and congresses — including the Matka Travel Fair, the Vene Båt Boat Fair, the Helsinki Book Fair, the Habitare design fair, the MP Motorcycle Show, the Spring and Food fairs, Ropecon, Studia and many professional congresses. The calendar runs all year.

How much are tickets to Messukeskus events, and where do I buy them?

Ticket prices depend entirely on the event and are sold by each organiser; buying online in advance is often cheaper, and some opening days are for professionals only. Check the official Messukeskus event calendar for your fair. A season ticket covers the public fairs Messukeskus organises itself, and there are discounts for children and pensioners. We handle only your transfer to the venue.

What time do the fairs open?

Doors usually open about half an hour before an event starts, and the big fairs run from morning into the evening. Exact opening hours are listed on each event's page.

Where will I meet my driver at the airport?

In the arrivals hall at Helsinki Airport. Your driver holds a sign with your name and helps with your luggage. Up to 60 minutes of free waiting time is included from the moment you land.

Can you take a team or exhibitor group with stand materials?

Yes — a Business Van (Mercedes minivan) seats up to 8 passengers with luggage and stand materials, taken straight to the venue door in one vehicle.

Are there hotels near Messukeskus?

Yes — the Holiday Inn Helsinki – Expo is right next to the centre, and the Scandic Pasila and Sokos Hotel Tripla are a short walk away by Pasila station. We can drop you at your hotel, at the venue, or both.

Is it far from the city centre?

No — Pasila is only a few minutes from central Helsinki by train or tram, so it is easy to combine a fair with sightseeing, dinner or a hotel in the centre. We can drive you anywhere in the city at the same fixed fare.

Do you also drive from Messukeskus to the airport?

Yes. Book the return direction on the Messukeskus to Helsinki Airport page, or add a return when you book — useful at the end of a multi-day event.

How far in advance should I book, and can I cancel?

We are a pre-booked service, so please book at least 24 hours before pickup — earlier during major fairs when demand peaks. You can pay securely online by card or reserve now and pay later, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
