Fixed price from €360 · about 2 hours · door-to-door with meet & greet

Book your transfer

Travel directly from Helsinki Airport (HEL) to Tampere in a private, pre-booked car with an English-speaking driver. Your driver tracks your flight, meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, and takes you straight to your hotel or address in Tampere — whether that is a hotel by the Tammerkoski rapids, the Nokia Arena, a conference at Tampere Hall, the Särkänniemi amusement park, or a lakeside address. No taxi queue, no meter running in traffic, and a price that is fixed the moment you book.

Tampere sits on the narrow isthmus between two great lakes, about 170 km north of Helsinki — the third-largest city in Finland, the gateway to the Finnish Lakeland, and a city that pairs a striking industrial heart with two shimmering shorelines. We have been driving international travellers and business visitors across Finland since 2008, and the airport-to-Tampere run is one of the routes we know best, in every season.

Why pre-book a transfer to Tampere

A fixed price, not a running meter. A metered taxi from Helsinki Airport to Tampere is unpredictable — you never know which car will turn up, the fare keeps climbing in traffic and at red lights, and a 170 km ride can run very high with no price certainty until you arrive. With us you see the full price before you book and pay exactly that, whatever the traffic and whatever the time of day — there is no airport surcharge and no night-time surprise. For a business trip it is a single, clean figure for the expense report.

Door-to-door, with your luggage. Reaching Tampere by public transport means getting from the airport into Helsinki first, then a train or coach north, then a local taxi at the other end to your actual address — several changes while handling your bags. A private transfer skips all of it: one car, from the arrivals hall straight to your hotel door, the arena, the conference venue, or out to the lakes.

A driver who waits for you. We track your flight in real time. If you land late, your driver is still there — with up to 60 minutes of free waiting time from the moment you land and a name sign in the arrivals hall. For a family heading to Särkänniemi, a group going to a game or concert at the Nokia Arena, or a corporate team arriving for a conference, there is room for everyone and their luggage in a single premium Mercedes minivan, so no one is split across separate taxis.

Because we have driven leisure and business visitors across Finland since 2008, we know Tampere well — the riverside hotels, the arena and the congress centre, Särkänniemi and the lakes, the Pyynikki ridge and Pispala — so your transfer is planned around exactly where you are going, and timed to your flight and your schedule.

Getting from the airport to Tampere

The drive from Helsinki Airport to Tampere is about 170 km and takes roughly two hours, mostly on the modern E12 / Highway 3 motorway heading north through the lakelands of southern Finland. It is a fast, easy road the whole way, and because the airport sits on the north side of Helsinki a direct car picks up the motorway without crawling through the capital the way public transport forces you to. For a meeting, a match, a concert or a conference, a single timed door-to-door ride removes every uncertainty from the journey.

A comfortable car matters most in winter, when daylight is short and the motorway is snow-covered, and on the busy event weekends — a big game or concert at the Nokia Arena, a festival, a major conference — when the city fills up and local taxis are scarce. You travel in a clean, modern Mercedes with a professional local driver who knows the route and the quickest way to your specific destination, whether that is a hotel on the Tammerkoski, the arena, Tampere Hall, or a lakeside venue.

We are a pre-booked service (please book at least 24 hours ahead). After booking you receive an email confirmation with your booking reference and your driver's meeting instructions, and your driver tracks your flight — so a late arrival never costs you the car, and a business pickup is timed precisely to your schedule.

About Tampere — a city between two lakes

Tampere lies on a narrow isthmus between two large lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi, about 170 km north of Helsinki. The Tammerkoski rapids run right through the centre, falling between the two lakes, and the red-brick factories that once harnessed their power gave the city its old nickname, the "Manchester of the North". Today Tampere is the third-largest city in Finland and the capital of the Pirkanmaa region — a lively, friendly, fast-growing place that pairs that industrial heart with water on two sides and some 160 lakes within the city area alone. It is consistently voted Finns' favourite city to live in and to visit.

For visitors, Tampere offers an unusual mix: the dramatic mill landscape of the centre, the tallest observation tower in the country, a world-famous sauna culture, the only Moomin Museum on earth, an amusement park, a brand-new arena and the open lakeland on the doorstep — all within easy reach. Whatever brings you — the lakes and saunas, a family trip, a game or a concert, a festival, a conference or a business visit — we will get you there straight from the terminal and back again for your flight home.

The Tammerkoski rapids and the red-brick heart

The Tammerkoski rapids are the soul of Tampere — a stretch of falling water running straight through the middle of the city, lined with the grand red-brick mills that made Tampere Finland's first industrial city. The Finlayson cotton mill was the first large-scale industrial enterprise in the country, and today the Finlayson and Tampella factory quarters have been reborn as a buzzing district of museums, cinemas, restaurants, breweries, offices and shops, with the water still rushing past below. The whole rapids landscape is officially recognised as a national landscape of Finland, and a walk along it is the best introduction to the city.

By the lower rapids, the Laukontori market square opens onto Pyhäjärvi, where lake cruises depart in summer, and the handsome Tampere Market Hall (Kauppahalli) — one of the great covered food halls of the Nordics — is a destination for local delicacies, including the city's famous black sausage (mustamakkara) with lingonberry. The Vapriikki museum centre, housed in the old Tampella works, gathers a dozen exhibitions under one roof, from history and natural science to the only Moomin Museum in the world.

Särkänniemi and the Näsinneula tower

On the Näsijärvi shore stands the city's most famous landmark, the Näsinneula tower — at 168 metres the tallest observation tower in Finland and the tallest free-standing structure in the country. Opened in 1971 and inspired by the Space Needle in Seattle, it carries visitors up in some of the fastest public lifts in Finland to an enclosed observation deck and the Neula Sky Café, with a revolving fine-dining restaurant a level above; on a clear day the view reaches some 20 kilometres across the two lakes, the rooftops and the surrounding ridges. The tower sits inside the Särkänniemi amusement park, a much-loved family destination of rides and attractions that also includes the Sara Hildén Art Museum on the point. We drop families right at the gate.

Pyynikki and Pispala — the ridge between the lakes

Between the two lakes rises the Pyynikki ridge, the world's highest gravel esker, formed at the end of the last Ice Age — a forested nature reserve laced with walking trails right at the edge of the city centre. At its crown stands the neoclassical Pyynikki Observation Tower, a red-granite tower from 1929 whose café is famous all over Finland for baking, by many accounts, the best doughnuts in the country. Spreading down the ridge towards the lakes is Pispala, one of the most distinctive neighbourhoods in Finland: a steep, bohemian quarter of brightly painted wooden houses with some of the finest lake views in the city, and the home of the historic Rajaportti Sauna. It is the kind of place that rewards an unhurried wander.

The Sauna Capital of the World

Tampere has been the official Sauna Capital of the World since 2018, a title backed by the International Sauna Association and earned by the sheer number and quality of its public saunas — more than fifty across the region. The oldest is Rajaportti in Pispala, the longest continuously operating public sauna in Finland, a wood-heated institution that has been steaming since 1906. Down on the lakeshores, public saunas such as Rauhaniemi and Kaupinoja pair the heat with a plunge straight into Näsijärvi — in winter, into a hole cut in the ice, a bracing local ritual said to do wonders for body and mind. For many visitors a sauna here is the highlight of the trip, and we will happily drive you out to a lakeside one.

The Moomin Museum and the city's museums

Tampere is the home of the only Moomin Museum in the world, set inside Tampere Hall, where Tove Jansson's original illustrations and the beloved tableaux built by Tuulikki Pietilä draw families and Moomin lovers from across the globe. It is far from the only museum: the Vapriikki centre in the old Tampella mills rotates through history, archaeology, natural science and design (and houses the Finnish Museum of Games and an ice-hockey museum), while the Sara Hildén Art Museum shows modern and contemporary art on the Särkänniemi shore, and a string of smaller museums tell the city's industrial and social story. It is an unusually rich cultural offering for a city of Tampere's size.

Nokia Arena and the home of Finnish ice hockey

Tampere is the spiritual home of Finnish ice hockey, and since 2021 it has had a stage to match: the Nokia Arena, a striking multipurpose arena designed by Daniel Libeskind and built on a deck over the railway right in the city centre, a few minutes from the station. It is the home of the city's two Liiga clubs, Ilves and Tappara, and it has hosted back-to-back IIHF World Championships in 2022 and 2023, NHL Global Series games, EuroBasket and a constant stream of the biggest concerts and shows to visit Finland — with its own hotel, restaurants and bars under the same roof. On game and concert nights the city fills up and taxis vanish, which is exactly when a pre-booked transfer straight from the airport pays off. We drop you at the arena door.

The lakes and the Finnish Lakeland

With water on two sides and lakeland in every direction, Tampere is one of the best places in Finland to get out onto the water. In summer, lake cruises leave from the Laukontori quay across Pyhäjärvi — including the short hop to the green island of Viikinsaari with its restaurant, beach and nature trails — and longer historic routes thread north across Näsijärvi. The surrounding Pirkanmaa region is dotted with lakes, forests and national parks, including Helvetinjärvi with its dramatic rocky gorge, all within an easy drive. We are happy to take you out to a lakeside hotel, a summer cottage, a spa or a trailhead — the kind of address that public transport reaches slowly, if at all.

A city for business — Finland's technology and industrial hub

Tampere is not only a holiday city; it is one of Finland's great centres of industry, engineering and technology, and a large share of our Tampere passengers are business travellers. The city grew up around manufacturing and reinvented itself as a technology and research hub, anchored by Tampere University and a deep cluster of engineering, machinery, software and health-technology companies — and the global telecoms name Nokia takes its name from the neighbouring town of Nokia, just west of the city. Tampere Hall (Tampere-talo) is one of the largest concert and congress centres in the Nordic countries and hosts major international conferences, while the Nokia Arena adds a venue for the biggest corporate events. For business travellers a pre-booked transfer means a professional driver waiting in arrivals, a quiet, comfortable car to prepare or unwind in, a fixed price for the expense report, and — for teams arriving together — everyone in one vehicle, timed precisely to the meeting, the trade fair or the conference session.

Where to stay in Tampere

Tampere has hotels for every kind of trip, and naming a few helps you place your transfer. The landmark Original Sokos Hotel Ilves rises right beside the Tammerkoski rapids in the heart of the city, while the tall Solo Sokos Hotel Torni Tampere stands by the railway station next to the Nokia Arena, with some of the largest meeting facilities in the city — both strong choices for business and leisure alike. The historic Radisson Blu Grand Hotel Tammer offers old-world character in the centre, and the Scandic hotels — Tampere City on the main street, Koskipuisto by the rapids, Hämeenpuisto, and the lakeside Scandic Rosendahl by Pyynikki with its pool and conference rooms — cover the range.

For an arena or congress trip, Lapland Hotels Arena sits inside the Nokia Arena complex, and Lapland Hotels Tampere and the Courtyard by Marriott Tampere City are right by Tampere Hall. Whichever you choose, just enter the hotel name or address in the booking form and we will take you straight to the door from the terminal — and back to the airport for your flight home — at a price agreed in advance.

Tampere through the seasons

Tampere rewards every season, and the drive from the airport is the same easy two hours whatever the weather. Summer brings lake cruises, terraces along the rapids, Särkänniemi in full swing and the long bright evenings of the Finnish midsummer. Autumn turns the Pyynikki ridge gold and quietens the lakeshores. Winter is the city in its element — hockey season at the Nokia Arena, snow on the red-brick mills, and the unbeatable ritual of a hot sauna followed by a plunge through the ice of a frozen lake. Spring brings the thaw, the first terraces and the start of the cruise season. Whenever you fly in, your driver is there in arrivals to meet you and take you straight to your door.

Combining Tampere with Helsinki and the region

Because Tampere is an easy couple of hours up the motorway from Helsinki, many visitors take in both — a few days of lakes, saunas and the mill city in Tampere, then the capital, or the other way around. We are happy to handle every leg at fixed prices agreed in advance, including day trips out to the lakes, the national parks, or the medieval castle town of Hämeenlinna on the way south. For longer stays, conferences or group bookings we can arrange return trips between your hotel and the venue, excursions and your ride back to the airport — just tell us your dates and destinations when you book.

Travelling for an event, a match or a conference?

Tampere is a year-round events city, and the busiest dates are exactly when local taxis are hardest to find — so a pre-booked, fixed-price car pays off. The Nokia Arena anchors the calendar with Liiga ice hockey (the city's two clubs, Ilves and Tappara), international championships and the biggest touring concerts to reach Finland. Around it the year fills up: the Tampere Film Festival in winter, summer music festivals such as Tammerfest and Blockfest, the Tampere Theatre Festival in late summer, and a steady stream of major conferences at Tampere Hall and trade fairs at the exhibition centre. Add the rhythm of the lakes and the saunas, and Tampere is busy in every season.

If you are flying in for a game, a concert, a festival, a conference or a business trip, book your airport transfer early so your driver is confirmed and timed to your arrival, with your flight tracked in case it runs late. For multi-day visits, conferences, weddings or group bookings we can arrange return trips, day excursions out to the lakes or the national parks, and your ride back to the airport — just tell us your dates and destinations when you book.

Yes. A large share of our Tampere passengers are business travellers. Your driver tracks your flight, waits in arrivals with a name sign, and gets you to your meeting, conference or trade fair on time, in a quiet comfortable car, at a fixed price for your expense report.

Is Tampere worth visiting, and how long should I stay?

Tampere is one of Finland's most popular cities — the rapids and red-brick centre, the Näsinneula tower and Särkänniemi, the Moomin Museum, the saunas, Pyynikki and the lakes are an easy day or two, and longer if you add lake trips or the national parks. We can collect you whenever you are ready to leave.

Can you take us to Särkänniemi, the Näsinneula tower or out to the lakes?

Yes. We drive families straight to the Särkänniemi amusement park and the Näsinneula tower, and out to lakeside hotels, spas, cottages and trailheads around the Tampere lakeland that are awkward to reach by public transport. Just give us the address when you book.

Can you take me to a lakeside sauna?

Yes — Tampere is the Sauna Capital of the World, and we are happy to drive you to public lakeside saunas such as Rauhaniemi and Kaupinoja, or the historic Rajaportti in Pispala. Tell us where you would like to go when you book.

How many passengers and suitcases can you take?

A Business sedan seats up to 3 with 3 bags; a premium Mercedes minivan takes up to 8 passengers and 8 bags — ideal for families, groups or a corporate team. Child seats are available free on request.

Do you also drive from Tampere to Helsinki Airport?

Yes. Book the return direction in the same form, or add a return when you book, and your driver will collect you from your Tampere address in good time for your flight.

How far in advance should I book?

We are a pre-booked service, so please book at least 24 hours before pickup. Earlier is better for busy event dates — big games and concerts at the Nokia Arena, festivals and major conferences — when demand is highest.

Can I pay by card, and can I cancel?

You can pay securely online by card, or reserve now and pay later. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
